I would not start by asking where to promote the product. I would first check whether the product is easy to explain in one sentence. For a first Gumroad sale, the usual leaks are: 1. the buyer is too broad 2. the promise is a category, not a result 3. the first screen does not show what is inside 4. there is no free sample/checklist/tool 5. the post sounds like "please buy" instead of solving the thread's problem If I were starting from zero, I would find five threads where people already describe the exact pain, answer each one with the useful framework first, and only mention the product if someone asks for a resource or the rules clearly allow it.

When To Share A Link

  • The subreddit or forum explicitly allows resources.
  • The original poster asks for templates, checklists, examples, or tools.
  • The thread is a feedback/share-your-project thread.
  • Your no-link answer already gave away the main useful idea.

When Not To Share A Link

  • The thread is asking for personal advice and links are not requested.
  • Your account history looks like promotion only.
  • The product link is doing all the work.
  • You cannot summarize the value without sending people off-platform.
